Craft Club at Warlingham, Surrey

Its been a long time since I have posted, but we have all been very busy crafting!  Our craft club is still meeting every Friday 10am - 1pm. It's a hub of needles clicking, sticking, cutting out, and what us women like best, a good old natter, a hot cuppa and cake!

We have had some new members join us over the last few months, we would like to welcome Josie, Sue, Janet and Shirley.  Lovely to have you with us on Fridays.

Congratulations to our absent crafter Moira, who became a granny to a lovely baby girl.  I don't think the knitting needles have stopped since the baby arrived.

Here are a few pictures of some of our makes.

Tapestry

Our craft club would like to welcome Jafrin who is our latest member. Jafrin is a natural at craft and I think she could turn her hand to most things. Another member Joan had an unfinished Tapestry (half cross stitch) which she bought in for Jafrin to learn and practice on. No worries for Jafrin she picked it up easily with Joan's help. Many years ago Joan had finished a tapestry which she framed, she bought it in to show us, really lovely with lots of work involved.

If you would like to find out more about tapestry, this Youtube video is very helpful

Alan Dart's Knitted Noah's Ark

At last I have finally got round to doing another post. Crafty Club celebrated our one year anniversary in February. We cannot believe how quick time has gone and we have certainly been busy, lots of lovely makes. Thank you to all my lovely crafty buddies for joining and all the advice and help we share with one another.  I would like to thank Moira, who is our absent club member. If Moira lived nearer she would definitely be part of our club. Moira gives us lots of patterns and crafty bits and is a clever crafter. Many thanks Moira!

Barbara is a card maker but has tried knitting and has made herself a snood, which she finished and is modelling.  Well done Barbara.

Three of our crafty club ladies, Jane, Carol and Liz have all been busy knitting an Alan Dart Noah's Ark and animals, for Jane's son Joseph.  Every part has been knitted, stuffed and stitched together. It has kept them busy but the end result is awesome. I took a video of the ark and animals below to share with you all.  The cherry on the cake was when Joseph saw it for the first time, he was speechless. Which is unusual as darling Joseph loves a chat! The great thing is that the ark and animals are being played with and what a great family heirloom.

Warlingham Craft Club

The craft club welcomes our new members Joy, Joan and Fouzia who have joined us over the last months. Its been great to see their makes. Fouzia is great at crocheting and can make lots of items just by looking at pictures and adapting them to crochet. She wanted to learn to knit and picked it up easily, her daughter has a hat and Fouzia wanted to make a scarf to match. The next week it was all finished, great work for a first attempt. No stopping her now! Joy and Joan are big knitters too, must post some of their makes.

The crafty club had a Christmas lunch at The Horseshoe, Warlingham.
A good time was had by all, we would all recommend the Christmas lunch as the food was very good and the staff very attentive. It was really nice for us all to get together and socialise outside the craft club. We all got a lovely surprise when Sharon pulled all the Christmas party hats out of her bag, and let us choose our own hat to wear and keep. Every hat was handmade and unique. We are still talking about them, they are wonderful. On our last club morning, before the Christmas break we all wore them while we crafted, snacked on nibbles and did our secret santa!

Craft Club Makes

Its been such a lovely summer and still a nice Autumn but Christmas is approaching fast. Lots of Christmas patterns have got out of the cupboards and we have been starting to make our festive friends. We have new members Joy and Joan which is great, bringing more crafty makes and tips.

We are all enjoying our crafty hours!

Barbara has been making cards, Carol has taught her a different method. It is pricking with a needle over the pattern, then using a metal thread for the stitches. Well done Barbara and thanks to Carol for teaching a new craft.

Diana has really got into knitting, another jumper finished.   Diana has been having lessons on her computer and is coming on leaps and bounds. She can now join in with looking at items and tips on the World Wide Web.  Good for you Diana.

Sharon knits something every week, we all look forward to seeing them. Wish I was as speedy.
Carol used to make all her own clothes when she was younger, this summer she made this blouse. I think I will put my order in! Carol knitted this christmas pudding with Jane's Father Christmas in the background.
